Negotiate Contracts 

Once you've found a preferred supplier, you must negotiate the terms and conditions for the purchase.

Before You Start
Check:

 that the SOUR still reflects the business needs

the costs and timescales are still acceptable

that you have good quality customer references

the supplier's financial health

Reminders

Do not accept the supplier's standard contracts if you're going to spend several £'000s.  Everything can be negotiated

There will usually be separate contracts for:
- Hardware
- Software
- Hardware maintenance
- Software maintenance

Be sure that the supplier's negotiator is fully empowered to make decisions

Know what your "must haves" are and what you are prepared to concede

Don't rush

Use your experts as support - don't let them negotiate for you
