Specification & Selection

Once you're satisfied that a solution can be found, you have to define all
the features and functions that the new application must have. This should be a
written document that you will issue to prospective suppliers.
The stages involved in selecting a new application are:

Specify your requirements.
(Usually called a Statement of User requirements) |

Survey the market place |
|
|
|
Filter the
market survey results and discard all but the best four or five vendors
|
|
|
|
|
Issue an Invitation to Tender |
|
|
|
Evaluate the responses |
|
|
|
Select a preferred supplier |
|
