We have
developed an appraisal model that helps you to calculate the costs and
benefits of investments in ICT and provides you with an assessment of the
Return on Investment, the Risk, the Sensitivity and other appraisal metrics.
The tool is a built using an Excel spreadsheet with some macros for
navigation, printing and some calculations.
The tool invites you to enter
the project's costs allowing you to chose between depreciating investment costs
over different time periods or writing off costs immediately.
The COSTS model
builds up costs by category including software, hardware, subcontracting,
consulting, training and bought-in services.
The BENEFITS model
distinguishes between "hard" and "soft" benefits over a three-year appraisal
life-time. We limit the appraisal to 3 years as we have found that it is
almost impossible to identify the value of future benefits beyond that length of
time. The BENEFITS model can be used in conjunction with our
Benefits Identification & Measurement
tool.
When you use the calculator, you can choose to
write off software and hardware costs immediately or to depreciate them over any
number of years.
